Austin, Texas Newborn Photographer | Baby Emmy’s Newborn Session
Baby Emmy’s Session | Austin, Texas Newborn Photography
I absolutely loved having Miss Emmy and her parents into my East Austin newborn photography studio for her newborn photography session. Emmy’s mom had inquired to schedule her session several months before baby girl arrived, but once she found out that she was going to have to have a c-section she opted to schedule an in-home newborn photographer instead. Unfortunately, Emmy’s newborn photographer had to cancel last-minute the day of her newborn session and mom messaged me in a panic. She explained that she had been worried she’d be having some mobility issues or need longer to recover after her cesarean, but that she was actually feeling great. Miss Emmy was already nearing the end of the ‘two weeks after birth window’ that’s typically recommended for newborn photography and I hated the thought of leaving such a sweet family in a pickle after having their other session canceled. I’m not typically able to fit in last-minute bookings, but I had two previously booked babies arrive early the week before so I had one more spot I could open up after shuffling a few things around. I am so happy I was able to squeeze them in! Miss Emmy is such a beautiful baby! Although due to timing we weren’t able to have an in-studio consultation to plan Emmy’s session, we had a great chat over the phone to discuss color preferences and special requests that Mom and Dad had for her newborn portraits. Mom and Dad chose neutrals and soft pinks for Emmy’s colors. For special requests, Mom mentioned she loved flowers and would like to keep things feminine and romantic. Neutrals are always my favorite when it comes to a color palette for newborn portraits because I think it really helps create a timeless image and one that can be displayed anywhere in the home - not just the nursery. I was thrilled to create beautiful setups for Emmy’s newborn session with these colors and requests in mind!
Heart Full of Love
When I heard Mom mention she wanted to keep things feminine and romantic, I immediately knew I had to use my new hand-carved wooden heart bowl from Luneberry! If you’re not a newborn photographer, you may not know what ‘Luneberry’ is, but if you are a newborn photographer then you definitely know what Luneberry is! Luneberry is an incredible newborn photography prop shop based in Houston, Texas. It’s owned by one of the hardest working women I know and it truly is the best quality newborn photography prop vendor there is! Cesia, the owner of Luneberry, created her amazing empire when she started making and selling headbands for newborn photographers on Etsy. Today, Luneberry sells everything a newborn photographer could ever dream of to thousands, if not tens-of-thousands, of newborn photographers all over the world. Chances are that every bed, bowl, box, basket, and bucket you’ve seen me use are all from Luneberry. I have a bit of a prop addiction! Ha! But how can you not buy all of the things when they’re adorable tiny-versions specifically made to fit newborn babies oh-so-perfectly?! But I digress… the heart bowl was perfect for the romantic touch Mom had wanted and I was so excited to use my shiny new prop!
Teddy Time
Keeping with the pink and neutral theme, I added a dainty bow and a sweet little teddy bear to this beautiful setup. These tiny teddy bears are a very frequent request I receive from the families I work with. Each teddy is handmade in the Ukraine by a lovely woman named Vasilisa from the most high-quality Angora yarn. I think they add the most darling touch to my newborn photos and I know my clients agree! Doesn’t Emmy look so sweet holding onto her pink bear? Adorable! This gorgeous close-up was one of Mom and Dad’s favorites. She truly is such a beautiful baby and I love how this photo focuses all the attention on her perfect face.
Dreaming of Spring
I have to admit that this setup was my absolute favorite. In fact, it honestly might be one of my favorite newborn photos I’ve ever taken. Miss Emmy looks so perfect all snuggly and tucked into this fuzzy white blanket. The textured edges and long bows of this bonnet bring such a wonderful feminine touch and, of course, the pretty pink tulips really bring the romantic element to life! Lately, I have been loving using fresh flowers in my newborn photography sessions! I frequently visit the East Austin Whole Foods located on E. 5th Street across the street from my newborn photography studio to purchase fresh tulips, daisies, sunflowers, eucalyptus, etc. However, these particular tulips might have fooled you! They’re actually not real! Even up-close it’s nearly impossible to tell they’re fake flowers. I found them at the Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas while visiting Chip & Joanna’s ‘Disneyland of HGTV’! I wish I had them in more colors because they bring such a beautiful touch to my newborn photos.
Mugshots!
Emmy gave me so many fun faces during her ‘Baby Mugshots’! She was wide awake and eager to show us her blossoming personality! She was such an adorable and expressive little lady!
Rosy the Riveter
Ahhhh! This photo has to be the best of the bunch! She is definitely giving off some major ‘Rosy the Riveter’ vibes, right?! She’s a tough cookie already and she wants the world to know it! #GIRLPOWER! You tell ‘em, Emmy!
